Adrian Hayes together with Susana Adamo from the Earth Institute, Columbia University, have edited a special issue of the journal, Population and Environment, on 'Population and climate: Research innovations and bridges to policy', and wrote the introduction, 'Understanding the links between population dynamics and climate change'.

The papers were originally presented at the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population (IUSSP) Seminar on Population Dynamics and the Human Dimensions of Climate Change, held at ANU in November 2012, and cosponsored by the Australian Demographic & Social Research Institute. Discussions in this seminar helped identify an important new research program in population dynamics and climate change using the new generation of climate scenarios.
